Poppintree Residential

The Poppintree site is located in Ballymun Co. Dublin, which is a residential and commercial area on Dublin’s Northside, South of Dublin Airport.

The design of the surrounding streetscape develops a good balance between circulation, housing structures and green areas which the proposal attempts to embrace. Wide footpaths and cycleways leading to the site allows for people to comfortably flow through the neighbourhood.

The proposed development seeks to achieve a good equilibrium between pedestrian circulation and green areas, while increasing the residential density of the site with apartments. The planned development includes the construction of 5 no. Apartment unit blocks with a retail unit at the main junction. Footpaths and cycle-way connect with surrounding residential areas and circulation infrastructures.

The landscape treatments for the south facing courtyard includes a communal amenity space and a public open space with associated pathways, soft landscape planting, amenity lawn and playground areas. Planting on top of smoothly shaped mounds provide a soft edge to the development from external viewpoints.

Playground area, seating facing the central lawn and feature planting promoting varied and adequate social engagements are featured in the Public Open Space. The Hampton Wood Drive pedestrian route is a solid landscape space, with strong yet simple paving design. Street trees in flushed low height planters, help define yet soften the space, give pedestrian ownership over the Hampton Wood Drive link. The segregation of the cycle-way is defined by a subtle continuous shrub verge which will have low height planting contrasting with standard trees.
